ISLAMABAD, Feb 11: Largely dependent on international donors and grants, the federal government has regularised the services of over 2,000 employees working with the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). The main objective behind establishment of BISP was to provide social security cover to families living under the poverty line. BISP was launched in October 2008 with an initial allocation of Rs34 billion. The funding was increased to Rs70 billion by the government during 2011-12 to cover almost 5.5 million families across the country. “World Bank has given a loan amounting to five per cent of the total project cost of the BISP,” an official told Dawn. President says 150,000 skilled youths to be sent abroad for employment
KARACHI, Jan 8: President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on Jan 7 announced the government is likely to send 150,000 skilled youths who had got training in different sectors for employment abroad. He was addressing the graduation ceremony of the Waseela-e-Rozgar Scheme of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) at the Presidential Camp popularly known as Bilawal House whereby 10,000 youths have been equipped with vocational skills to enable them to make their own living in a respectable and honorable manner. KARACHI, Jan 30: A Rs12 billion poverty alleviation programme for jobless youth of Sindh was launched by President Asif Ali Zardari along with his son, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party, at a ceremony held at the Bilawal House on Jan 27. Sindh govt, BISP launch ‘Waseela-e-Haq’ programme
KARACHI, Jan 27: The Sindh government and Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) have jointly launched ‘Waseela-e-Haq’ programme for self-employment of educated youth of the province by providing a soft and interest-free loan of Rs 0.3 million each. BISP Chairperson Farzana Raja, during the signing ceremony of the project, said, “The Sindh government has allocated Rs 12 billion for this programme initiated and directed by President Zardari.
