June 17: Allah Bux Qaiser led a group of about 100 teachers from Karachi and other parts of the country and spent six days at a tent in Aabpara Chowk to press the government to raise their salaries and revise pay scales. On June 10, during President Asif Ali Zardari’s address to the joint session of parliament, the teachers wanted to stage a protest outside the parliament house. However, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi approached the teachers and assured them that all their genuine demands would be met. The deputy speaker also told the teachers that he would convey their demands to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. Teachers reject 10pc raise
June 17: Government schools teachers have rejected the federal government’s announcement of 10 percent increase in salaries of government employees in its annual budget and termed it a joke. Teachers file petition for monetisation
ISLAMABAD, June 17: The associate professors of Islamabad colleges have filed a writ petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking ‘transport monetisation facility’. Through a writ petition filed by advocate G.M Chaudhry, they claimed that they were also entitled to the facility notified by the federal government on January 1, 2012 for civil servants in BPS-20 and above. They said as many as 100 associate professors and professors of Grade 20 and above took up the issue with Ministry of Capital Administration and Development (CAD), Cabinet Division, Finance Division, and later with the AGPR but to no avail. Teachers term 2013-14 Budget worst in history of Pakistan
Rawalpindi, June 14: Teachers have deplored the new government for presenting what they termed the worst budget in the history of Pakistan. Giving their views on the budget, a good number of teachers, led by Punjab SST Teachers Association (Rawalpindi) President Shafiq Bulawalia, Central President Mohammad Aslam Gujar, General Secretary of All Punjab Teachers Association Saghir Aalam lashed out at the government for providing no incentives to government employees, including teachers, in the budget.
