88 Punjab House employees to be regularised

ISLAMABAD, May 30: Finally the prayers of 88 ‘work-charge employees’ of spacious Punjab House Islamabad, working there for years without any break or extra benefits, were heard.Realizing their anguish the Supreme Court on May 29 dismissed an appeal of the Punjab government against the December 6, 2012 order of the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC). The LHC bench in its order had asked the provincial government to regularise the services of the work-charge employees. Many of the employees were performing duties at the Punjab House Islamabad since 1998 but were getting a paltry remuneration of Rs9,360 per month without any extra benefits. Unpaid salaries: Finance dept to put KMC money in high court

KARACHI, April 18th: The finance department has been directed by the Sindh High Court (SHC) to deposit the monthly budget for Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) into the court so that the salaries could be paid on time. On April 16, an SHC bench – headed by Chief Justice Mushir Alam – told the provincial deputy secretary for finance to deposit Rs500 million worth of grant-in-aid to the SHC nazir before the 10th of every month. “Any violation of this order would be deemed as contempt of the court,” warned Chief Justice Alam. Court orders increase in PTCL employees pension

ISLAMABAD, April 18: Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Mohammad Anwar Khan Kasi on April 17 directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Limited (PTCL) to bring the pension of about 40,000 of its retired employees on a par with the pensioners of other ministries and government departments. The court last year directed the PTCL management to increase the pension of its retired employees in accordance with the policy of the federal government but the PTCL management filed an intra-court appeal against this order. M. H. Aslam, a representative of PTCL pensioners association through Khalilur Rehman Abbasi, filed the contempt of court petition against the PTCL management for not implementing court order regarding increase in their pension. SC takes notice of non-teaching staff issues

ISLAMABAD, March 22: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on March 21 took notice of the problems of non-teaching staff of federal schools and in this regard its Human Rights Cell sent a notice to Federal Secretary Ministry of Capital Administration and Development (CAD). On the other hand the file containing the demands of the non teaching staff could not attract the attention of the prime minister on March 21 as it was lying on his table along with 37 other files, Dawn has learnt. The chairman of Joint Action Committee of Non-Teaching Staff Association, Sadaqat Abbasi, told Dawn that the apex court notice was the fruition of the sit-in they staged in front of Supreme Court on March 18. SHC takes notice of non-payment of KMC staff’s salaries

Karachi, Jan 7: The chief justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Jan 4 took notice of the non-payment of salaries of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) employees, and issued notices to the chief secretary and the local bodies secretary for an explanation. Through its counsel Nadeem Sheikh, the KMC workers union filed an application saying that thousands of employees, including staffers of the fire brigade, had not been given their pay for the last two to three months. The counsel noted that the chief minister had announced that the provincial government would release Rs850.21 million every month for the payment of the salaries of KMC employees, but it had not been doing so for the past two to three months without any reason.
