Employees of Pakistan Railways protest against corruption, privatisation

KARACHI, May 24th: The employees of the Pakistan Railways on the call of the Pakistan Railways Employees (Prem) Union (CBA) Karachi held a protest against the privatisation of the Pakistan Railways and the corruption which is plaguing the already limping organisation. Members of the Karachi division of the Prem Union gathered outside the Divisional Superintendent office at the Karachi City Station on May 23. The protesters accused the Multan Divisional Superintendent of taking bribes for recruiting people into the Pakistan Railways, demanding that he should be removed from his post. They also asked that others found involved in corruption should be expelled and handed over to the National Accountability Bureau. KUTS appeals for 20pc special allowance

Karachi, May 23: The Karachi University Teachers Society (KUTS) has appealed for a 20 percent special allowance from the federal government. “The same allowance has been given to the employees of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology. Giving deadlines: NADRA employees threaten to hold strike in Islamabad

PESHAWAR, May 22nd: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) employees on May 21 threatened to hold a demonstration in front of the main NADRA office in Islamabad if their demands were not met by June 10. Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, All Pakistan NADRA Employees Union (APNEU) President Muhammad Saleem alleged employees’ basic rights, including Appointment Promotion Transfer (APT) rules and basic pay scales (BPS), were not granted. Teachers want transfer orders withdrawn

NOWSHERA, May 21: A large number of teachers, including 284 lady teachers, staged protest against their transfers on May 20 under the rationalisation policy of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department. The protesting teachers seeking cancellation of their transfers to far-away areas in the district were led by the KP chapter president of the All Teachers Association, Faiqzada and Amina Bibi. On the occasion, they flayed the district officials of the Education Department whom they accused of violating the laid down policies of the department. TMA workers demand salaries

KARAK, May 16: Employees of Karak tehsil municipal administration have demanded release of their salaries. The former president of the municipal employees union Azam Khan and general secretary Akbar Ali Khan told this scribe on May 15 the staff had not been paid salary of April as the TMA was facing financial crunch. They said that they were unlikely to get the salary of the current month as the tax collection authority of the TMA had been transferred to the district council. They demanded of the provincial government to provide special grant to TMA Karak to enable it to pay salaries to employees.
