QUETTA, May 25: The government of Balochistan has regularised services of 5,000 male and female teachers recruited two years ago under the Aghaz Haqooq-i-Balochistan package. They had been appointed in BPS 14 to 16 for two years. Their services had been regularised after a meeting between the Secretary General of the National Party, Mir Tahir Bizenjo, and the Chief Secretary of Balochistan, Babar Yaqub Fateh Muhammad, on May 24. Delay in hiring: Polyclinic staffers go on strike today
ISLAMABAD, May 24th: The Polyclinic Joint Action Committee (JAC) will go on strike on May 24th against delay in hiring of employees from BPS-6 to BPS-12. JAC Chairman Raja Ilyas said that during the strike, all departments will remain closed except outpatient departments (OPDs). He alleged that Joint Executive Director (JED) Dr Zahid Hussian was creating hurdles against the hiring by influencing officials of the Ministry of Capital Administration and Development Division (CAD). He said that the Departmental Selection Committee (DSC) has recently finalised names of 129 people for hiring against vacant posts. Employees of devolved ministries made permanent
ISLAMABAD, May 24: President Asif Ali Zardari, on the advice of the caretaker prime minister, May 23 approved promulgation of Civil Servants (Amendment) Ordinance 2013 making all the employees of the devolved ministries permanent civil servants in the organisations to which they were transferred and are presently working. Metro Bus: Drivers protest against poor working conditions
LAHORE, May 24th: The Metro Bus service was held up briefly on May 23 afternoon when bus drivers staged a protest at Gajju Mata against their working conditions. Around a dozen drivers began the demonstration at 2pm, chanting slogans denouncing their employers, Platform, for fining them for “minor irregularities” like being late and driving above or below the prescribed speed. They also complained that there was no proper waiting area for drivers at the Gajju Mata bus depot and no arrangement for them to get cold water. Several more drivers joined in as and when they arrived at the depot and saw their colleagues protesting. Employees of Pakistan Railways protest against corruption, privatisation
KARACHI, May 24th: The employees of the Pakistan Railways on the call of the Pakistan Railways Employees (Prem) Union (CBA) Karachi held a protest against the privatisation of the Pakistan Railways and the corruption which is plaguing the already limping organisation. Members of the Karachi division of the Prem Union gathered outside the Divisional Superintendent office at the Karachi City Station on May 23. The protesters accused the Multan Divisional Superintendent of taking bribes for recruiting people into the Pakistan Railways, demanding that he should be removed from his post.
