PESHAWAR, May 22nd: Twenty six people were appointed at the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) on the quota reserved for sons of retired class-IV employees for the first time since 1988. LRH Chief Executive Prof Dr Arshad Javed announced the appointments on May 21 at a seminar held at the hospital. Members of the K-P paramedic’s office bearers were also present. Addressing the participants, the LRH chief executive said sons of former employees have a right to be recruited in the hospital on priority basis, but have been deprived since 1988. Dr Javed said he felt the concern of class-IV employees over the violation of their right and in response appointed 26 sons of former lower grade employees who retired after 1988. ISLAMABAD, May 17: With Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) emerging as the largest party, all set to form a government within a few days, the youth and poor have elevated expectations of the new government. Residents of the federal capital, particularly poor and unemployed youth are keeping a close eye on any new development in the country and are hopeful that the PML-N would address their grievances. Workers protest against outages, price hike
LAHORE, May 16: Scores of Wapda workers staged a rally on May 15 to protest against the crippling loadshedding and the unprecedented price hike. The workers gathered outside the Labour Hall under the banner of the Pakistan Wapda Hydro-Electric Central Labour Union, marched up to Lakshmi Chowk and staged a demonstration there. Led by veteran trade union leader Khurshid Ahmed, Rana Abdul Shakoor, Malik Ehsanullah, Rana Akram, Zafar Shah, Chaudhry Maqsood, Osama Tariq and others, they called for resumption of oil and gas supply to thermal power stations on an immediate basis to minimise the crippling loadshedding and enforcement of a mechanism to control price hike of essential commodities.
