Child labour in Pakistan

July 1: Sir: Reports point out that Pakistan is one of the top 10 countries in the world with child labour issues. That does not come as a surprise. Every second home seems to employ a child servant for domestic purposes; children as young as five are employed to work day and night as domestic slaves, getting hardly two meals a day and adequate leisure time. Where has their childhood gone? Do they not deserve one? Children in Pakistan work in awful conditions in factories and in villages and are hardly paid decent wages. It should be a topmost priority of the government to give these children a suitable life and meaning to it. When will this happen?
