KARAK, Feb 13: The All Pakistan Pensioners Association’s provincial president Fida Mohammad has demanded removal of disparity in provision of pensions to newly-retired and old workers.
He made the demand while addressing ex-servicemen at a meeting at Jail Chowk here on Feb 12. A large number of retired employees attended the meeting. He demanded that they should be given senior citizen and medical allowances.
He claimed that they had no political designs but would struggle for their rights, regretting that the successive governments had failed to respect their services. “Majority of pensioners are passing a miserable life as they cannot manage their expenditures in meager pensions,” he said.
Fida Mohammad said there was a large difference in the pensions of the old and newly retired employees, and demanded that the disparity should be removed so that the former could lead a respectable life.
He said the government was making nominal increase in the pensions in annual budgets compared to increase in salaries.
He said the civil pensioners had no medical facilities in the hospitals like as the army personnel.
