HYDERABAD, July 17: Activists of the NBP Godown Staff Action Committee demonstrated here on July 16 to press their demand for regularisation of their service.
They marched from the bank’s Fatima Jinnah Road branch to the press club. They carried banners and placards and raised slogans against the bank administration and the government.
President of the committee Zulfiqar Shah told reporters that the job of watchmen and godown staff, working since 2003, was yet to be regularised.
He said job of 800 watchmen and godown keepers had been regularised across the country in 2003 during the Pervez Musharraf government and about 100 staff were appointed that year. But hey have been struggling for their rights since their recruitment.
“If our demands are not met we would observe hunger strike and hold a sit-in in front of the Quaid’s mausoleum in Karachi and
in Garhi Khuda Bux outside the mausoleum of the Bhuttos,” he warned.
If the government still did not accept their demand they would hold a sit-in outside the Parliament House in Islamabad.
