SWABI, Feb 14: Unemployment in fast increasing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and rest of the country, but it seems there is no plan in place to arrest this trend.
This was observed on the occasion of test for the posts of Secondary School Teacher (SST) who would be appointed in BPS-16 on regular basis by the provincial government.
Many candidates having engineering background and MPhil degrees had applied for the school teacher posts conducted here in a local school by NTS staff the other day.
A large number of female candidates were also present at the centre showing great interest in getting job to teach in the government schools.
This correspondent noted that highly qualified candidates were interested in the teaching job for various reasons.
Some of them said that wanted to join the government job to avoid being overage for other jobs, including those matching their qualifications.
Shehryar Khan, a student who had a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, said that the prevailing jobless scenario in the country had forced him to appear in the test.
Imran Ali, who belongs to Yar Hussain village of the district, told this scribe that his PhD thesis was in the final stages at Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan.
Ijaz Ahmad, who is pursuing MPhil in Geology, said that there was no guarantee that he would get job soon and that was why he started appearing in different tests.
Akhtar Hussain was another MS student who wanted to adopt teaching as a profession.
He said that if selected he would attempt to switch from school to college in future.
Ayan Ali, an MS student at International Islamic University, Islamabad, said that teaching was one of the best professions and he eagerly wanted to adopt it.
