QUETTA, May 21: After failure of their talks with a government team, protesting teachers said on May 19 that they would not end their fast unto death until a notification of acceptance of their demands is issued.
Provincial Minister Tahir Mahmood and Mir Nasir Jamali held talks with Government Teachers’ Association’s representatives led by Haji Abdul Ghaffar Gadazai at the hunger strike camp.
The ministers told the teachers, who are on a hunger strike for the last 10 days, that a notification for increasing their children’s quota in recruitment from five to 10 per cent had been issued and a summary for appointment of teachers to administrative posts had been submitted to the chief secretary. They said the finance department had agreed to the demand for time-scale.
