MURREE, Nov 12: The town municipal administration (TMA) employees on Nov 10 held a protest against non-payment of salaries for the last three months.
Carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the Rawalpindi district government, the protesters marched through the Mall.
The TMA staff has kept their offices locked for the last five days in protest against non-payment of salaries.
Addressing to the protesters, the TMA staff employees’ union representatives alleged that more than Rs250 million of the Murree TMA were due towards the District Coordination Officer, Rawalpindi.
Naveed Abbasi, the president of the staff union, said besides the regular staffers, pensioners had not been paid for the last three months.
They said non-payment of funds by the district government had affected routine development projects.
The protesting staffers said if their salaries were not paid they will block water supply and stop sanitation work in the town.
